During the Mass of The Lord's Supper on Holy Thursday, we remember the Last Supper. During which, Jesus washed the feet of the apostles, celebrated the Eucharist for the first time, and instituted the sacred priesthood before going to the Garden of Gethsemane to pray.
At this Mass, the priest follows the example of service set by Jesus and washes the feet of volunteer parishioners. The Mass that begins on Holy Thursday is not completed until the end of the Easter Vigil on Saturday.
In commemoration of Jesus time in prayer in the Garden of Gethsemane, parishioners are invited to pray with Our Lord at the Altar of Repose in the CCD Building until Midnight.
